SwapSafe

Privacy Policy

Effective 23 July 2026 · SwapSafe is made by DIFIA Limited

The short version. SwapSafe keeps everything on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. There are no SwapSafe accounts. We don't collect, see, sell, or share your information, and there's no tracking, analytics, or advertising. When the app goes online it is always to service something you just asked for, and never to send anything to us — we run no server. See “When the app connects to the internet” below.

What the app stores — and where

Everything you enter — your children's profiles and photos, allergies and intolerances, reactions, medications and doses, food-introduction and immunotherapy records, saved recipes, and emergency action plans and contacts — is stored on your device and, when you are signed in to iCloud, copied to your own private iCloud database so your records survive a lost phone and stay in step across your devices.

That iCloud copy sits in your Apple account, not ours. We have no server that receives or holds this information, and neither we nor Apple's app-facing systems give us any way to read it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, or you turn iCloud off for SwapSafe, the app simply keeps everything on the device.

When the app connects to the internet

SwapSafe has no server of its own, so nothing is ever sent to us. It makes three kinds of request, each only to carry out something you have just asked for:

Typing a recipe in as text involves no network request at all. Allergen flagging and the substitutions themselves are worked out on your device.

What we do not do

Children's information

SwapSafe is designed for parents and caregivers to manage a family's food allergies; it is intended to be used by adults, not by children directly. Any information about a child is entered by the parent or caregiver and remains on that person's device under their control.

Your control over your data

You can edit or delete any record inside the app at any time, and a deletion syncs to your other devices.

Deleting the app removes the copy on that device, but not the copy in your iCloud account. To remove that too, go to Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage, choose SwapSafe and delete its data. If you use an iPhone backup, your SwapSafe data may also be included in that backup, which is managed by Apple under Apple's terms.

Not medical advice

SwapSafe offers general guidance and record-keeping only. It is not a medical device and not a substitute for professional advice. Always consult your GP or allergist, and in an emergency follow your action plan and call your local emergency services.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where a change is significant, note it in the app. A future version of SwapSafe may add further optional features (such as sharing a child's record with another caregiver) — if and when it does, this policy will be updated to describe exactly what that involves before those features are turned on.
